Cygnet and Windows

By Philippe Gauffriau

Here we explain how to add an icon for each Cygnet module on the desktop under Windows and how Cygnet can be started with a keyboard shortcut. Please excuse that the screenshots are in German.

Icon for each Module on the Desktop

When Cygnet is installed, an icon is created on the desktop. By clicking this icon you start the Cyget module you have used last.

If you want to start with the Alpha-Theta module, normally you start the ILF-moule first and then switch to the Alpha-Theta module. If you want to be able to start each module directly, you can create an own icon for each module on the desktop.

Here is how to do it:

Under „Programs/Cygnet/Cygnet Module“ the files for starting the individual modules are stored. You can start the modules via the „Win Button“ by following the directory path or you can create an icon on the desktop.
To do so, select the path, as shown in the picture above, click the icon with the left mouse button, keep the mouse button pressed and pull the icon to the desktop. Do not release the left mouse button, even if the icon is visible already. Then also press the Control key (Ctrl) and keep it pressed. As soon as a + appears blow the icon, you can release the mouse button and the icon will now be stored on the desktop.

This is what it can look like if you create an icon for all 6 modules:

Start Cygnet with a shortcut key combination

Cygnet can be sarted with a shortcut key combination instead of clicking on the icon. This has the advantage of not having to look for the icon on the desktop.

A shortcut key combination can be defined for all proramms that have a desktop icon.

Here is how to do it:

1. Step
Click on the icon for which you want to create an icon with the right mouse button.

2. Step
A menu appears. Click on the menu item Properties.

3. Step
Now select the tab Shortcut.
Now you can enter the desired key combination. By default, no key combination is defined.
A key combination consists of 3 keys and always starts with CTRL + ALT or CTRL + SHIFT and any letter or number.

For Cygnet here the combination CTRL+SHIFT+C was chosen.

4. Step
Confirm wth OK.

Cygnet can now be started wth the shortcut.
