Why EEG Info Equipment?

Questions and answers concerning our systems

How does your system differ from other neurofeedback systems?

A neurofeedback system consists of three components, the hardware, the therapist software and the feedback system. Our systems run all of these on a single computer, to which we connect a second screen (standard for notebooks). The hardware (the EEG NeuroAmp) looks simple on the outside, has two channels and three channels for peripheral signals, such as the pIRx3-HEG. Additionally, the NeuroAmp also has an output for tactile feedback. The equipment is approved as a medical device in Europe and in the USA (FDA) and even fulfills, from the technical point of view, the standards that apply to aerospace products. In spite of that, it is one of the cheapest devices on the market today. The NeuroAmp also has an easy-to-read built-in impedance meter that enables quick and simple electrode placement. Especially with regard to ultra-low-frequency training this element has proved invaluable.

The name of the software is Cygnet and it mainly reflects the work according to Sue Othmer´s training approach. But of course you can run it with other protocols also. Cygnet is also approved in Europe and the USA (FDA). People who like to experiment and develop their own protocols can run the NeuroAmp together with BioExplorer

The feedback software is developed by a San Diego computer game company that has an exclusive partnership with us for the neurofeedback field. The games were also evaluated within the medical device approval processes.

What is so special about it?

We are one of the very few companies that not only offer hardware and / or software, but a complete system that has undergone extensive clinical tests and fits to a well documented and proven training approach. It was very important to us to develop a system that is easy to use, from installation to the daily clinical routine. Our customers do not have to be computer specialists and the software is designed in such a way that the therapists can concentrate on their clients, not on the software.

Where can I get to know it?

Good question - best thing is to visit somebody who uses it regularly. We don´t have any expensive sales infrastructure, therefore we cannot send a nice sales person to visit you. But if you are close-by, you are welcome to visit us in Switzerland or Christine Baumann in our office in Erlangen.

Who can get listed in your therapist directory? Does that depend on your system?

Any therapist interested in getting listed can register. He or she does not necessarily have to be using our equipment. The basic entry is free of charge. If you want to introduce yourself on an own web page and benefit from our high Google ranking, you can purchase an extended entry for EUR 295 per year.

How can I gain more insight into the Othmer-method? Where?

The best way is to participate in a training course. I really can recommend the courses by Sue and Siegfried Othmer. They have been holding courses since 20 years and these four, now five, days are a very good investment. You can also purchase the introduction course as DVD. The third possibility is the protocol guide. It reflects the quintessence of Sue´s work and is intended to be a reference book for your clinical practice. It contains precise and comprehensive explanations in Sue´s efficient style. The protocol guide costs EUR 105 (excl. VAT).

Does EEGinfo also work with biofeedback accessories?

On the one hand we have tactile feedback devices (cat, bear, etc), on the other hand we have the pIRx3-HEG, a triple passive infrared sensor. The method is based on the research by Jeff Carmen. This device is very popular in Switzerland. It was intentionally developed for treating migraine, but is now applied extensively for prefrontal stimulation and therefore the initial treatment of attention deficits in children. Specialized contact persons for this technique are mainly Martin Brink (who has just moved from Berlin to Australia) and Susy Schmid from the Schoresch-Institut in Switzerland.
