QEEG + ERP Basic Course in Lenzerheide (CH)

From November 17th - 21th 2014 HBImed AG will be holding a 5-day workshop  ERP-Based Biomarkers in Theory and Practice in Lenzerheide (CH). The course location is a beautiful resort, in a winter sports area.
Lecturer will be Prof.Juri D. Kropotov.

The basic course gives an introduction to recording and analysis of a quantitative EEG (QEEG) as well as evoked potentials (ERP) and is intended for newcomers in these fields. Determine dysfunctions of the brain by means of brainmaps.
During the extensive practicum you will have the opportunity to record and analyse your own EEGs and ERPs as well as analyse various clinical cases.
We supply all equipment for working in groups of two persons.
At the end of the course you will be able to record and analyse QEEGs and ERPs by yourself and know how to make use of biomarkers in order to make a more precise diagnosis and to treat your patients more effectively.

QEEG ERP Advanced Class Fall Workshop in Lenzerheide (CH)

From November 24th - 28th 2014 HBImed AG will be holding a 5-day advanced workshop QEEG, Event related potentials and Neurotherapy in Theory and Practice in Lenzerheide (CH). Lecturer will be Prof.Juri D. Kropotov.

The goal of the workshop is to teach attendees how to improve their diagnostic and treatment tools by using a newly emerged technology of Quantitative EEG, event related potentials and neurotherapy. Attendees will learn about neuromarkers in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological and psychiatric conditions, such as depression, anxiety, stroke, PTSD and others. Attendees are welcome to bring cases of their own patients to be discussed in the course.

QIK Test - New norm and report in EEG Expert

You are using the QIK Test and the EEG Expert reports for evaluating new clients and for measuring effects of the neurofeedback training?
Two major innvoations have been introduced recently:
1) The norm base has been increased to more than 20.000 persons for unprecedented accuracy.
Age groups where norm data was not quite so reliable before have been updated. The underlying data has been collected in the last years and now account for the changes in behavior, such as usage of video games and smart phones.
2) The new report of EEG Expert introduces the Performance Index and the Accuracy index.
The performance index is determined by the reaction time and it´s consistency (index of inattention).
The accuracy index is specified by the number of omission errors and outliers in reaction time and by the number of commission errors (index of impulsivity).
Performance and accuracy indexes tend to respond differentially in training, which justifies their distinct categorization.
The parameters you are used to are still there, but we packaged them freshly for better overview.

  User Tip
Sounds in Windows

Since Windows Vista Microsoft changed the way how and where sounds are played. Now, all programs that produce sounds can use different sound devices. As an example, system sounds come from the computer speakers, the 5.1 sounds of the DVD software are routed to the sound system and other video sound comes from the speakers of the external monitor. Unfortunately, this new way of sound routing may lead to problems as sounds don't come from the expected device. The associated settings are not complicated, please have a look  here.

  Book Recommendation
Brian´s Legacy: As Shared by His Father Siegfried Othmer Brian's Legacy chronicles the emotional journey of a dedicated father and his troubled son.
As a child, Brian Othmer faced many challenges, including epilepsy, Tourette's, Asperger's, and explosive rage.
As a young adult, he recorded his journey in a diary, which reveals a young man determined to understand himself and his brain, and to answer the question that drives him: Where do I fit in this world? In this phoenix-from-the-ashes story, Brian's journal entries are paired with his father's recollections, as Siegfried and Sue Othmer seek out medical and behavioral experts to help them understand and cope with their son.
Throughout their heartbreaking odyssey, they finally discover something that works: neurofeedback. Through their work in neurofeedback, Brian's legacy lives on.
